Courses are run in polish, and international students are individually tutored by english speaking lecturers before and after classes. It is mandatory to attend classes to meet your professors before or after classes. We encourage international students to spend time on campus with Buddies and other students, take part in student life. International students will individually study English literature and sources during classes. Students will also be guided over email to successfully acquire all knowledge necessary to pass.

Part 1: Information about the University:

University of Social and Medical Sciences (ANSiM) is a Polish non-public university founded in 2001 in Lublin. The mission of ANSiM is to systematically enrich the field of didactics by improving the quality of the teaching process and ensuring the highest level of classes through innovative teaching methods. These include individual and group work under the supervision of tutors, as well as research on important and current issues.

Accommodation

ANSiM does not have its own student dormitories, but students may apply for accommodation in the Student Houses of the Medical University of Lublin:

Prices vary between 100–250 EUR per month, depending on the type of room (single, double, triple or quadruple).

Additionally, there are many private options available for foreign students in Lublin and across Poland:


Insurance

  • Health insurance is mandatory for all students for the entire duration of their stay in Poland.

  • Students from non-EU/EEA countries should purchase health insurance in their home country or immediately after arrival in Poland. Otherwise, they will be required to pay for any medical services.

  • Students are also advised to purchase accident insurance and third-party liability insurance.

EU/EEA students

  • Entitled to free healthcare if they present a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

  • Students without insurance in their home country may sign an agreement with the Polish National Health Fund (NFZ) and obtain insurance for approx. PLN 55 per month (2025 rate).

Non-EU/EEA students

  • Can sign an insurance agreement with the NFZ after arrival in Poland.

  • Private health insurance is also widely available.

Visa and Residence Permit

  • Non-EU/EEA students must apply for a student visa at a Polish Embassy or Consulate in their home country before arrival.

  • Student visas are typically granted for up to 90 days. For a longer stay, students must apply for a temporary residence permit at the local Voivodeship Office.

  • The application should be submitted no later than 45 days before the visa expires.

  • Local ticket (with student ID): approx. PLN 1.50

  • Regular ticket: approx. PLN 3.00

Examples of travel costs:

  • Lublin – Kraków: approx. PLN 35–40 (≈ 8 EUR)

  • Lublin – Warsaw: approx. PLN 30–35 (≈ 7 EUR)


Mobile Phones

  • Prepaid SIM cards are available from operators such as Play, Orange, Plus, T-Mobile.

  • A starter pack costs approx. PLN 5–10 (≈ 1–2 EUR).

  • Since 2016, all SIM cards must be registered with an ID at the operator’s office or partner shop (easiest in Żabka shop).


Money and Currency Exchange

  • The Polish currency is złoty (PLN).

  • Exchange rate (2025): 1 EUR ≈ 4.20–4.30 PLN.

  • Currency exchange at airports is usually less favorable. It is advisable to exchange only a small amount upon arrival and use exchange offices (kantor) in the city. Its best to use Revolut, or similar services for currency conversion.


Cost of Living in Lublin

Poland is generally less expensive than many Western European countries.

    • Swimming pool: PLN 12–20/hour

    • Squash: PLN 50–70/hour

    • Tennis: PLN 40–60/hour

    • Horse riding: PLN 40–50/hour
